International Education News

Happy New Year! Since I’ve finally gotten used to writing dates with 2020, I know the new year is well underway. This month we’re focusing on our group insurance options for colleges and universities around the country, with a great new standard plan for small to midsize schools and multiple "A" rated insurance carrier partners standing by to build custom plans for our bigger clients. We also provide a heads up on the rebrand of ISI and relaunch of the website coming up next month, and an overview of insurance resources available for your student orientations. Finally, the closing date for the Scholarship for students from Central American countries comes up this month.

I wish you all smooth sailing as you start your new semester.
Enjoy the newsletter!

Need Resources for Your Orientation?

We’re always hearing from schools looking for ways to engage with students during their student orientation, and it can be hard as there is so much information crammed into a short period of time. Let us help you this year with our free school resources, including:

US Healthcare Overview Video

Available in 8 languages, this quick 5-minute video provides international students with an overview of what to expect if they need medical treatment.

Mental Health Awareness Training

In collaboration with the Cross-Cultural Center for Student Emotional Wellness, this training can be used to educate international students on stress, culture shock, and getting help. The training includes a PowerPoint, Proctor Guide, Engaging Activities, Videos and a brochure. To go along with the training, we also have a webpage for students to engage in the material, which you are welcome to link to.

Sexual Assault Awareness Training

In collaboration with RAINN, this training can be used to educate international students on consent, being an active bystander, and getting help. The training includes a PowerPoint, Proctor Guide, Engaging Activities, Videos and a brochure. We also have an engaging information page for students that you are welcome to link to!

As always, if you need any help or if you’d like to order brochures, please don’t hesitate to let us know!

New Look and Logo ISI

Next month you’ll see a new logo and new website for ISI, now officially branded with our shorter initials instead of our generic long name of International Student Insurance. All of the great resources, insurance plans and helpful tools will still be there, but with easier access and better flow. Together with the new Administrators section of the site specifically for schools and groups, the new site will help bring clarity to the resources directed to students and those geared more for administrators.

Deadline Approaching: Mpower & Central America Scholarship

International Student Loans for the Spring Semester

Finding the necessary funding to complete an international education is a challenge for many students. Unexpected costs, funding falling through, and other life events can greatly threaten a student’s ability to remain on track. When used responsibly, international student loans are a great way to fill the financial aid gap.

Our international student loan comparison tool is the only place where international students can find lenders for their school specifically. If a lender is available, they can learn more about the loan offer and if it’s a right fit, apply right online.

If any of your students are in need of additional funding this semester feel free to pass along our loan comparison tool to assist in starting their search.

Update Your Free Profile for the New Year

The USA School Search database includes every school in the US that accepts international students. With the new year, it’s a great time to update your free profile to ensure you’re connecting with the students you want to reach. You can update this information by simply logging into your administrator dashboard.

If you’re not already using this as a recruiting tool you can easily create an account and claim your profile. Once claimed, you will have access to update your profile and view any leads from students interested in your institution.

If you’re a school located inside the UK, Canada or Australia you can also claim your free profile. If you don’t see your school let us know and it can be added!
