International Education News

Thanks to everyone who came to our reception, stopped by our booths, met us for an appointment or came to one of our sessions - you made this our best NAFSA ever! It was great seeing many new and familiar faces, and we look forward to working closely together this year. Below you’ll find links to the three sessions we presented, in case you would like a copy, addressing mental health and wellness, sexual assault and safety abroad. We also highlight a student loan available to international students without a US co-signer, as well as an overview of improvements recently launched to our individual student insurance plans.

I hope your summer is off to a great start, and enjoy the newsletter.

Loans for International Students - No Cosigner Required

Loans that do not require a cosigner are now available to international students looking for financial aid for their education in the US and Canada.

These loans, available at select universities, allow students to borrow up to $50,000 to cover educational costs like tuition, room & board, textbooks, and more.

  • They are offered without cosigners or collateral
  • No credit history is required
  • A student’s academic success and career path is considered when making an approval decision

International students studying in the USA or Canada can use our loan comparison tool to see if they are eligible.

Insurance Plan Updates

Each year, we work with our insurance carriers to improve the individual student plans that we offer, tailoring them as closely as possible to our clients’ (your students’) needs. This year, we made some notable changes:

  • United HealthCare Network is now the preferred provider on the Student Health Advantage and Patriot Plans, offering name-brand nationwide access to providers.
  • Self-inflicted injuries and suicide coverage across all levels of the Student Secure plan.
  • Improved mental health coverage on the Student Secure Budget level - 30 days of inpatient coverage, 30 outpatient visits.
  • $5,000,000 policy maximum on the Student Secure Elite level.
  • 100% coverage on eligible medical expenses, after the deductible, up to the Atlas Travel plan’s policy maximum, no matter where you seek treatment!
  • Many other enhancements to our student health and travel medical plans.

Mandate Individual Insurance Plans

When it comes to health insurance for your international students, it can be difficult to allow students to purchase on their own and be sure that everyone is enrolled. ISI is committed to making this easier. We can help schools administer one of our plans so that they know every student is enrolled on the right plan for the right time. We can provide regular reports and correct mistakes directly with the student - and without the extra burden of having to administer a group plan and collect premiums from all of your international students.
